A picture tells a thousand words? Maybe so but ... words also paint too many pictures! However, in doing so, they reveal the heart!

Bitter but Sweet

What a bittersweet day this was for me and my family. My son celebrated his third birthday today, as the nation mourned the loss of thousands of souls. I'm thankful he is too young to notice the somber or melancholy atmosphere. Ironically, the day he was born also brought with it memorable headlines. Clinton was accused of having an affair with the intern, Monica Lewinsky. Mark Maguire broke the homerun world record 3 years ago, today.

After listening and watching hours and hours of coverage, I have to agree with the consensus. We need to regroup and pray!! There is a God, and I have witnessed his miracles through prayer in my own life and I am convinced he can heal our land and bring us justice if we would only humble ourselves and pray. Our founding fathers built this nation citing "In God We Trust." Our pledge of allegiance, which is no longer permitted to be repeated in schools, proclaimed "one nation under God...". Prayer in public schools have been prohibited and everyone wonders why there are so many school shootings.

The bible says:
2 Chronicles 7:14
"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

1 Timothy 2:1-4
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Isaiah 54:17
no weapon forged against you will prevail...

Ezekiel 6:10-12
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Let us lift these burdens to the Lord and see his deliverance.

2 Chronicles 20:15,17
This is what the LORD says to you: `Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's...You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you... Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.'
